The Gateway Fiber Story
Gateway was founded in 2019 to bring high-speed fiber internet to underserved areas in Greater St. Louis. Co-founders Bob and David Glarner saw the opportunity when they experienced challenges getting internet service into their new home development in Wentzville, MO.
They met the Sellenriek family, who had 40 years of experience constructing networks. The partnership formed as the founders recognized that consumers were unhappy with their current internet providers and that fiber internet was the future. Gateway built its first network in Winfield, MO with the first customers coming online in January 2020.
Gateway saw a broader opportunity to reach many thousands of homes and businesses in St. Louis with its service. The company invested in building the organization, hiring key positions in late 2020. Significant growth started in 2021 with new markets in four Missouri counties, lighting our 10,000th customer in July 2023.
Building off the success in St. Louis, Gateway formed a vision to expand our impact nationally. We continued to invest in our team, processes, and systems for expansion success. We entered the Minneapolis market in 2023, lit our first customer in December, began construction in Massachusetts in 2024, and reached our 20,000th customer by September.
In 2025, Gateway merged with Kansas-based E-Rate provider WANRack and its residential subsidiary KWIKOM to form a nationwide fiber internet company operating in 25 states. We also launched Fargo, the first North Dakota market in Summer 2025.
The new Gateway Fiber is positioned to transform customer expectations for internet service nationwide.

Absolutely! We are one team now under the Gateway Fiber brand, so go ahead and wear it proudly.
Original KWIKOM swag and WANRack swag are being replaced with the new Gateway Fiber gear, making them collector’s items. You can try to sell your old shirts, hats, and mugs on eBay or keep them around for old time’s sake.
Once the merger is complete, the KWIKOM brand will ride off into the sunset, as all residential and business customers will officially become Gateway Fiber customers.
The WANRack brand will live on through the rest of 2025, relabeled as “WANRack powered by Gateway Fiber” with a full transition to the Gateway Fiber brand expected in 2026.
July 28th — the first communications will be sent to existing KWIKOM customers notifying them of the brand change. There will be no impact to KWIKOM customers at this time.
August 6th — Kansas markets will begin accepting new orders as Gateway Fiber! Marketing will begin under the Gateway Fiber brand (and we can all start wearing our new swag).
August 25th — KWIKOM customers will receive an email and letter letting them know that their billing cycle will be changing to align with Gateway's billing cycles. All KWIKOM customers will be grandfathered into the same plan and price they have been receiving.
September 2nd — during the first week of September, we anticipate all BillMax customers to be integrated with Broadhub, meaning we can finally service ALL customers out of one system. KWIKOM customers will begin receiving their bills from Gateway Fiber.
